The best way to learn to write is to listen -- everyone has a story. This said, a local writer once told me, "You write well so why write about country bumpkins?" His comment bothered me a bit, then I read this quote from Aristotle: "To write well, express yourself like the common people, but think like a wise man," and I was bothered no more.
